  • USAID Summer Seminar: Reuben Brigety – Smart Power and Development, Part 2

Posted by admin on March 8th, 2010 and filed under smart growth program | No Comments »

The Administrator s Forum presents: Smart Power and Development: Civilian-Military Cooperation

There is a growing consensus that a smart power strategy should comprise military and non-military tools to address instability and extremism. Many security threats do not lend themselves to traditional military and security approaches and the Administration and its partners must use new or underutilized civilian approaches to address these challenges more strategically. The seminar will address the following questions: How do we use and balance civilian and military assistance more strategically? How do we maintain and strengthen our development principles while building our civilian-military cooperation? The seminar will also discuss what distinguishes military and civilian assistance from different perspectives.
