    Smart growth is the use of city planning to insure an environmental sane approach to the use of resources and space. Anti-sprawl and transit-friendly planning, green belts, parks, walkways, energy efficient methods of consumtion and recyling of materials. Encouragement of carpooling and recycling, planting of vegetation in the city to reduce radition on concrete and roofs, etc.
