  • What You See: Shades of Grey EP

Posted by admin on February 15th, 2010 and filed under smart growth movement | 1 Comment »

Track six off of the Shades of Grey EP. The song essentially talks about the relationship and how the person you knew in your relationship has changed yet they think you’re the one that’s different and while you are growing as a person you realize there’s so much more to life and relationships. You realize that you’ve got to start by looking at yourself, seeing the real you and being completely honest with yourself.

    Lyrics:

    What You See:

    Verse 1:

    Ugh
This is the coming of my age
Where Ive realized Im performing on the worlds biggest stage.
Mom says life is what you make it
I just hope its not in vain
Cause Im working for a future
    Where my dreams seem UN-attain-
    Able!
    A life thats never promised
    Always hungry, always full
    Appetite of a hustler
    Content with all my boons
Ive been blessed to live a life
Where my cup is never full
Never empty, it remains in the middle
    Neu-tr-al
    After almost losing mom
I had be a better son
Had to sacrifice what I am
    For what I could become
    All change isnt growth
    All movement isnt forward
So I had to leave my x-files
I could not become a Mulder.
It takes a lot of courage to release the seemingly secure
But theres no real security in what was meaningful.
There is more security when adventuring unknowns,
For in movement there is life
So I live my own accord

    Chorus: 2x

    Look into my eyes
    Tell me what you see
    Can you feel my pain?
    Am I your enemy?
    Look into my eyes
    Tell me what you see
    Have I really changed?
    Do you really know me?

    Verse 2:

Ill be honest when I say
Im scared of what the future holds
    Life moving fast
You never know where Ill ever go
    I want this forever
You know how the saying goes
    Friends have become haters
For other reasons I never know.
    People say Ive changed
    I dont call them anymore
    They wonder what had happened
Is he mad theyre never sure?
    Cell phone ringing
    Tone is my allure
    Our relationship is cancerous
But I have found the cure
    We used to be great
    And you were once pure
But understand that Yonge is separating from Bloor
    Im a nice guy first
    But being subtle
    Never soft spoken
    My Mouth is not muzzled
If youre waiting for a diss
    Youll never hear a rebuttal
    Caution up ahead
Ill try to avoid the trouble
Never get caught up in all the stupid life once endorsed
Rather tread and drown in these waters fore I could reach those shores
But Steph told me to do me
Dont listen to dudes that knew me
    Cause to have known me,
would mean that theres a new me
And If you think Ive changed then the slyest couldnt fool me
See I know what my purpose is, you can never refuse me
    Appearances deceiving
    Never committing treason
If you look for a motive to hate
    Here is the reason
    If you ever doubted me
    Dont ever ask for forgiveness
    This world will be mine
And you can be here to witness!

    Verse 3:

This whole time Ive been taught theres a line that separates All the major things in life like the laughter and the pain The comedy and tragedy, the things that seem so sane To humor and the hurt before the nuisance it became Its those lines that helped me find myself Those lines make me remain The person that I am today, the person Ive became
Not a wise man really, nor a brave one, Im just plain
But Im smart enough to know that there is always constant change.
Never lay on tracks of history so I can meet my fate
Im not dumb enough to let the train of future decimate
    Me!
    I am fashionably altered
Im the tailor who makes sense
    Every time I see myself
    Im just making new measurements.
    While the rest go on
    Expecting Old numbers are prevalent
Making suits that dont seem to fit
    My progression is evident
This entire song is just a metaphor for me to vent
That I will lead my future, minus all the hurt and all regrets
Been a long time coming; Im not speaking on the age
Cause Im from the future so that time comings already came.
As a kid I was stupid as a man I face my strains
Ive been working night and day so I can get a piece of fame
But struggles had my heart heavy, I looked at things distained
But that was all past tense it weighed (Wade) on me like Dwyane
I just want to be successful now, I want to entertain
What youve heard is metamorphosis, the coming of my age
And the single handed reason I remainME!
