      You should take a …
      You should take a step back and look at the situation from the students perspective. I guarantee you that if you ask recent graduates what the school should have done differently you will get a completely different answer than if you were to ask the teachers who are in most cases involved in one subject. Or the board directors who graduated school in the 70’s and have an outdated idea of how to keep up with the changes in society and curriculum.

    2. velociti92 Says:

      Put me in charge of …
      Put me in charge of education for a day and we will go 100 years into the future.

    3. velociti92 Says:

      Also schools keep …
      Also schools keep updating their textbooks. We should use the same old textbooks (10-15 years old) but have the teachers add whatever material they wish to add. Its not like they are finding new formulas in Aldgebra 1 every year, or new countries to update the geography book every year.

    4. velociti92 Says:

      PS if you notice in …
      PS if you notice in China class sizes are MASSIVE! Yet they score so high on exams. Why is that? because the parents and students value education which today in America only students in honors courses value.

      In other words- The problem is not “we have bad teachers”, “we need more computers”, the problem is that parents and students do not value their education.

      Change comes from within.

    5. velociti92 Says:

      The problem with …
      The problem with science classes today is that it’s important to balance practical- nutrition, acct finance with the theoretical- economics, physics

      Today kids are graduating and understand how to calculate electromagnetic fields but have no idea how to do their own finances.

    6. velociti92 Says:

      These questions do …
      These questions do not get to the heart of the problem.

      1) Educate PARENTS and kids about the importance of grades and challenging classes at college admissions BEFORE HS.
      2) Allow more challenging AP classes earlier on in high school while making the easy classes like geography optional.
      3) Allow students who want to try AP or upper level classes the option even if they make all B’s. The 90% cut off is ridiculous.
      4) Teach important classes Nutrition, Accounting & Finance& Investing.

AND “Obama is still here for you” …lol! (obamas wheels comin off his SoulTrain)

    8. groundhog2008 Says:

      Need to install …
      Need to install bill enhancements which will target minorities into “Race to the Top”!! This is great idea, but Obama needs to put in more than $1.3 billion into this. Why is it not worth $5 billion? Not to sound critical of our wonderful President Obama. This is a start!! Just that we need to spend more money on pubic education!!

    9. joshuag5732 Says:

      But don’t you …
      But don’t you realize democracy will be taken away from us. And since when do corporations worship anything but money? They don’t care about religion or abortion. They’ll put in whoever will do what they want at the time they want it liberal or conservative and we won’t have any say. It isn’t the fringe that elects people its the middle and we both know independents are idiots who’ll believe anything they see on television.

    10. memama2 Says:

      @joshuag5732 = if …
      @joshuag5732 = if they believe in GOD and would like Morality instead of indoctrinating kids to accept Darwin ONLY and also want way Less Taxes and to KILL way more Terrorists? GREAT!!!!! = I hope they all dump a boat load of money onto a Godly man or women who would have had no chance to RUN against immoral socialist crazies with ubber ca$h from Mur-dock or Oprah! Let the Games Begin!

    11. joshuag5732 Says:

      Those people have …
      Those people have more than a few dimes.

    12. memama2 Says:

      @joshuag5732 = well …
      @joshuag5732 = well now GOOD PEOPLE who have a few dimes can compete with Re-named ACORN peeps of BAAMAS! – that sounds fair!

    13. joshuag5732 Says:

      The oil company …
      The oil company execs are the elitists. What do you think of the supreme courts ruling that corporations are free to give as much money as they want to politicians? Good idea or bad?

    14. memama2 Says:

      @joshua = its time …
      @joshua = its time to GROW UP josh – If Democrat crackpot drones would quit stoppin Companies from DRILLING for every drop of oil & qui allowing Green Goob dunces to put the brakes on THEIR Freedom to begin drilling? Then YOU ARE AN ELITIST IDIOT! – it is not for you to say “theres not much oil” = SO WHAT? = those people who have found US Oil Reserves? Should be allowed to DRILL for it & bring good paying JOBS back to Americans. Your Goal? = forcing people into your Eco-energy ideal? EGO 101

      Get the Central …
      Get the Central Government authority out of Education and the median performance level of students will shoot thru the roof.
      Free markets work with ideas too, not just with commodities and services other than schooling. If your ideas worked well they would rise in popularity naturally and not need to be coerced out of the citizenry.

    17. maskedphrogg Says:

      @iknewitalready
      We …

      @iknewitalready
      We don’t think that way because it’s an inadequate over simplification of a situation that your faux simplification does not even address.

    18. maskedphrogg Says:

      @iknewitalready

      @iknewitalready
      You completely misunderstand the dynamics that granting so much unearned income to Universities had on the price of tuition. Pell Grants and other giveaways are part and parcel of why tuition rose so high. Prices rose to the level the market was willing to pay. By putting so much money into the system the Universities did what was necessary to maximize their take. Higher tuition is the natural result. Quit cheering for programs that make it harder for others to excel.

    19. joshuag5732 Says:

      It’s time to start …
      It’s time to start developing other sources of energy. Its past time. If it weren’t for the oil lobby we would be incredibly further than we are. One day we will run out of oil. I don’t want to wait until the billionaires are satisfied before we take energy reform seriously.

    20. joshuag5732 Says:

      A lot of these …
      A lot of these wonder drugs are crap. I don’t mind them turning a profit, but they have just so much power. One day they will go after medicare and they might just be able to get rid of it. After that you might as well sign over your house to them the minute you retire.

    21. joshuag5732 Says:

      We definitely need …
      We definitely need to reform the education in this country. The classic banking and then testing method is useless. I also think the teachers union needs to clean house. But I don’t think the teachers are being greedy. Education is the most important thing in the world and our most valuable asset are good teachers.

    22. FFVIIISquallLeonhart Says:

      So, Race to the Top …
      So, Race to the Top = Let’s see how much self improvement of image certain people can achieve within America while the rest of us cycle out and die paying every bit we can to just stay alive. Stop this terrible waste of money and help your country with all you can you POS.

    23. iknewitalready Says:

      i got your message loud and clear……no confusion about your words.

      Trickle down economics is not good for the country. It is ruining the middle class.
