Add the elements of connectivity and pleasure that neighbourhood residents would delight in. The future evolution of the buildings will complement this basic structure; no need to determine every detail.

    Jacob pushing over blocks – 1-18-09 Spinal Muscular Atrophy I Part 2

    This is an attempt at documenting Jacob gaining the ability to use his arms. We put together the trapeze with PVC pipe to fit Jacob’s frame and the interaction needed by the nurses. Today was the first time we used this device. This is video 2 of Jacob knocking over blocks. Watch all 3 to see how he learns to move his arms, just a little bit, to knock over the blocks. You will also notice a couple of large movements which are new for Jacob.

    Jacob has Spinal Muscular Atrophy type I. This disease has isolated a very smart little boy in a body that just doesn’t work right. He has very little movement of any body parts except his hands and fingers. Watch him grow.

    President Obama outlines new steps to better prepare Americas children for college and the workplace at a meeting with the National Governors Association . The President is calling for a redesigned Elementary and Secondary Education Act that includes a comprehensive, new vision to help states successfully transition to and implement college- and career-ready standards by improving teacher preparation and development, upgrading classroom instruction, and supporting high-quality assessments.
